Varicose Veins

What exactly does a vascular surgeon do?

Vascular surgeons manage the arteries and veins in every part of the body, whether medically or surgically, except for the brain and the heart. The blood vessels in your body carry oxygen rich blood from the heart to the legs and brain and veins transport blood back to the heart. These are the conduits for your circulatory system. Without smooth flowing blood flow, tissue and organs in the body cannot function properly. Vascular disease or blockages in these vessels lead to a traffic jam causing the blood to clot and the tissue and organ to die.
