Cataracts cannot be avoided as one age. However, going for regular screening can help one keep a tab on conditions like cataracts, in addition to allowing one to detect any other anomaly, such as glaucoma or age-related macular degeneration, at an earlier stage. This would allow the doctor and patient to be able to optimally manage the condition in order to optimise visual acuity.
