Aortic Aneurysm

Can a person survive an aortic aneurysm?

Yes, of course. Aortic aneurysms can be treated successfully, especially in elective surgery. The risk is between 1% to 5% mortality, depending on co-morbidity and existing medical conditions. However, in emergency surgery for an aortic aneurysm, the risk can increase from 40% to 50 %, even in the best hands.
