What is an aortic aneurysm?

An aortic aneurysm is an abnormal dilatation of the main blood vessel in the body. The aorta carries blood from the heart to the organs and legs. Aortic aneurysms below the kidney arteries in the abdomen are called Infra-renal abdominal aortic aneurysms. When it stems from the chest, this will be a thoracic aortic aneurysm.
