What is the survival rate of PAD?

You can live a full life with PAD. However symptoms and signs of PAD can be the first warning sign of a serious cardiovascular problem such as heart attack or stroke. Up to 30% patients with PAD will be deceased within 5 years after the first stages of PAD develop hence the importance of risk factors modification and commencement of best medical therapy for the disease. Those who undergo a major lower limb amputation as a result of severe PAD can expect a 60% life expectancy between 2-5 years.
