This depends whether you have open vascular surgery or keyhole endovascular surgery. Open vascular surgery involves a larger cut on the inside of the leg to bypass blocked blood vessels in the case of arterial disease. Normally recovery is longer and may take up to 2 weeks for wounds to heal. Walking generally can take place 4-5 days after the surgery. Keyhole or endovascular surgery such as angioplasty (dilatation of a blocked artery) or stenting usually involves just a puncture in the groin and patients usually can walk the next day without any issues.
